A single-herb liquid extract of dried root of Cynanchum paniculatum, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Xu chang qing is a milkweed relative, and it shows: slender upright stems with narrow paired leaves, small greenish-yellow star-shaped flowers, and slim horn-shaped pods that split along one seam to release seeds with silky parachutes. The root is the part gathered, and it is easy to identify by smell alone — a strong sweet phenolic scent, the same paeonol that gives tree-peony bark its character.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Do not exceed the suggested amount. Cynanchum species contain compounds that can cause nausea, vomiting and dizziness in larger doses. Not for use in pregnancy.
